Chef Christine Hazel
Hell’s Kitchen Season 14 contestant Christine Hazel hails from the Philadelphia area. Hazel decided to pursue her passion for cooking, which she had previously only done for family and friends. She enrolled in The Art institute of Philadelphia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management and graduated with honors. While in Culinary School, Chef Hazel competed on FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen to learn from Chef Gordon Ramsey. She battled her way to beat out many experienced Chefs and was on eleven episodes. Her experiences on the show inspired her to new levels creatively and had given her a new level of confidence. Upon returning, she honed her style at various internships like Farm and Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill, and opportunities working for Jose Garces in Philadelphia. She describes her style as putting modern twists on classic French and American dishes. Her cuisine is inventive and inspired from various flavor profiles.
Currently, Hazel is a Private Chef and Consultant who specializes in the Pop-Up Dining Experience. She does short term residencies in Restaurants nationwide where patrons enjoy multi-course interactive dining experiences. She is the Chef/Owner of Hazel Private Chef and Catering. Her specialties include consulting (menu development) and upscale catering. She is a Culinary Writer for Parle Magazine in New York City. She is the Area Chef for the Corporate Sponsors at Augusta National Golf Club for the Master’s Tournament. Currently, she is the Cause Champion for the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey for the United to Feed Campaign. She enjoys teaching others and exposing people to foods they may have hesitated to try before. She was named the October 2016 Industry Changer for Industry Rules Magazine.
She is extremely passionate about fresh and innovative cuisine. Chef Hazel is very active in the community and has been doing events for the Kiehl’s Life Ride for AMFAR (AIDS Awareness), Autism Speaks, PA Horticultural Society, Best of Style Philly, Philadelphia Moguls in Media (Women in Media), Taste of Philadelphia, Taste of Quarter (Tropicana Atlantic City) the Palisades Chef Tour and the Farm to Fork Series in Virginia.
