Chef Irie

Hugh Sinclair, a.k.a. Chef Irie Spice, the Global Culinary Architect, is the executive chef of Chef Irie Spice Inc.-Personal Chef Catering Services providing services to the tri-county area of South East Florida. Chef Hugh hails from the Caribbean Island of Jamaica, where he grew up on a sugar plantation. Before relocating to the sunshine state, Hugh migrated with his family to New York. He completed his college career at the Univ. of Florida earning a BS from the renowned School of Architecture.

Hugh always had a passion for cooking and felt right at home in the kitchen. After working several years as an architect, the yearning to create culinary masterpieces vs. architectural aesthetics overtook his desires. It was then that Hugh enrolled in Johnson & Wales University’s Culinary Arts program embarking on his culinary journey. Graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts, Hugh has taken on the South Florida culinary landscape by storm. Being a personal chef has allowed him to work with entertainers, athletes and many South Florida elite.

Chef Irie appeared on Food Network’s acclaimed Cutthroat Kitchen and continues to host the culinary pavilion at the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival in Florida, New York and Washington DC. June 11th marks the launch of season two, on CreateTV, of Taste the Islands staring Chef Irie. This year chef is joined by co-host Chef Thia, from Haiti. The pair continues to delight fans with more delectable Caribbean inspired fare that viewers can make at home. Season two adds travel elements to the show’s offering with stories from Barbados, Jamaica and Haiti; in its own unique way Taste the Islands presents a worldwide view into the food and culture of the Caribbean. This made for television series produced by Ms. Cailbe Thompson of Blondie Ras Productions, Inc. continues to be the only original Caribbean produced television series featuring Caribbean born chefs. Fans are encouraged to check their local listings for their local public TV network; Taste the Islands is distributed nationwide by American Public Television.
